1. Data Controller and Contact Information

We are the data controller for the processing of the personal data we collect and receive about you. If you have any questions regarding our data practices, please feel free to contact us via the email address listed above.

2. What Personal Data Do We Collect and Why?

We process your personal data for the following purposes based on the respective legal grounds:

  • Contact and Support Forms: If you use our contact form to inquire about our films, videos, or apps, we collect your name, email address, and any information you provide in your message. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in providing customer support and responding to inquiries (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • App Store & Google Play Links: When you click on links on our website to download or view our apps in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you leave our website and access an external platform. Apple or Google may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies. Auglian Productions does not currently use these links to track individual users.
    App Store & Google Play Distribution: When you download, update, or interact with our apps via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, these external platforms process your account and device data in accordance with their own global privacy policies. We do not receive your personal account details from these platforms.
  • Video Playback (YouTube / Vimeo): We display trailers, movies, and promotional videos embedded via third-party platforms. When you interact with or watch these videos, your IP address and device data are transmitted to these third parties. This processing is blocked by default and only initiated after you provide active consent via our separate consent solution.
  • Book Nobility App: Book Nobility stores certain reading lists, book choices, and app preferences locally on your device. To provide subscriptions, usage quotas, top-up purchases, and AI-assisted book recommendations, the app also uses external services and our secure backend infrastructure.
  • Subscriptions and in-app purchases: Book Nobility uses RevenueCat to manage and verify subscriptions, in-app purchases, entitlements, and purchase status across the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. RevenueCat may process a pseudonymous app user identifier and information relating to purchases, subscriptions, and entitlements. Payments are processed by Apple or Google through their respective stores. Auglian Productions does not receive or store your full payment card details.
  • To manage monthly search allowances, top-up balances, prevent duplicate usage, and protect the service against abuse, our backend stores limited technical account and usage information in Google Cloud Firestore. This may include a pseudonymous app user identifier, quota balances, usage-period information, and identifiers required to process purchases and recommendation sessions correctly.
  • AI-generated recommendation explanations: Book Nobility uses Google Gemini through our backend to generate personalised explanations for book recommendations. Relevant information needed to generate the explanation, such as information about the recommended book and relevant reading preferences or criteria selected by the user, may be sent to Google’s Gemini API. Book Nobility does not send your local reading list to Gemini for this purpose. AI processing is used to provide the requested recommendation service.
  • The legal basis for processing necessary to provide paid app functionality is GDPR Art. 6(1)(b), where applicable. Processing necessary to protect the service, prevent abuse, and maintain security is based on our legitimate interests under GDPR Art. 6(1)(f).

3. Data Processors and Third Parties

Your data is kept confidential and is only shared with trusted third-party service providers where necessary to operate our website, apps and digital services, process purchases, provide requested functionality, maintain security, or promote our digital media as described below.

  • Web Hosting: Our website is securely hosted on EU-based servers via our hosting provider Simply.com, acting as our data processor under a valid Data Processing Agreement (DPA).
  • Media Providers: Depending on your interaction, data may be processed by external media services such as Google (YouTube) or Vimeo. Where consent is required, these services are blocked until the relevant consent has been provided.
  • Book Nobility Service Providers: To operate Book Nobility, we use third-party service providers for specific technical functions. RevenueCat is used to manage and verify in-app purchases, subscriptions, and entitlements. Google Cloud, including Cloud Run and Firestore, is used for backend infrastructure and server-side usage and quota management. Google’s Gemini API is used to process requests necessary to provide AI-assisted book recommendations. Apple and Google process purchases and related account information when transactions are made through the App Store or Google Play.
  • International data transfers: Some of our service providers, including Google and RevenueCat, may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where such transfers are subject to the GDPR, we rely on applicable legal transfer mechanisms and safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), where required.
  • We do not sell personal data or use Book Nobility reading preferences for third-party advertising.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal data to external parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention Periods

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or processed, including where retention is required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain security, or protect against abuse.

  • Form Inquiries: Data submitted via contact forms is typically deleted within 6 months after our communication has ended, unless the interaction leads to a continuous business or client relationship.
  • Technical and Traffic Logs: General server logs are automatically deleted after a maximum of 30 days.
  • Book Nobility Data: Reading lists, book choices and certain app preferences stored locally on your device can be removed using the app’s local data reset function. They can also generally be removed by clearing the app’s data or deleting the app. Deleting the app or resetting local data does not automatically delete information processed or retained separately by our backend or third-party service providers.
  • Server-side usage and quota information: Server-side information associated with Book Nobility is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, verify purchases and entitlements, maintain correct quota balances, prevent duplicate transactions and abuse, comply with applicable legal obligations, and resolve technical or billing issues. Where applicable, you may request deletion of personal data controlled by Auglian Productions by contacting info@auglianproductions.com.
  • Retention periods maintained independently by Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or other service providers may be governed by their respective legal obligations and privacy policies.
  • If you wish to exercise your rights regarding personal data controlled by Auglian Productions, including requesting access or deletion where applicable, contact info@auglianproductions.com.

5. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject within the European Union, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data, subject to the conditions and limitations set out in applicable data-protection law:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to rectify inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • The right to request the erasure of your personal data.
  • The right to restrict the processing of your personal data.
  • The right to object to certain processing of your personal data.
  • The right to data portability where applicable.
